Youchaoshi built houses on trees: In the distant and ancient times, human beings lived in the wilderness without houses and a place of refuge.
Whenever it was windy and raining, they could only find a tree or a rock to take shelter from the rain, and dangers such as pests and wild animals made it even more difficult for human beings to survive.
As a result, the life span of human beings at that time was very short.
Not knowing how many years later, a young and capable man appeared.
He was not only brave and good at hunting, but also clever and witty.
Once, he wounded an eagle, but the eagle kept flying.
He chased the hawk until it flew back to its nest on the top of a tree.
At that moment, it rained heavily from the sky and the young man went back drenched.
He muttered, "Why can't humans build themselves a nest like the eagle?"
The next day, he climbed a big tree and carefully observed the construction of the eagle's nest.
Then he got some branches and leaves and built a nest in the tree.
After much effort and improvement, he finally succeeded in building a strong nest.
He lay down in the nest and found it very comfortable, far better than sleeping on the ground.
After a few days, he taught others how to build a nest.
In gratitude for his contribution, people honoured him as a hero and called him Youchaoshi.
One day, while hunting, Youchaoshi tracked a wounded tiger to the cave where the tiger was hiding.
Youchaoshi decided to wait for the tiger to come out, but after waiting for half a day, there was no movement!
Youchaoshi plucked up the courage and carefully walked into the cave.
However, when he reached the end of the cave, he found that the tiger had long escaped through another hole.
Taking a cue from this, he decided to make use of the cave and transform it into a humble dwelling.
In this way, people could live inside the cave, which was more convenient than living in the trees.
Later, Youchaoshi also invented ways to build houses, and humans no longer needed to live in caves.
People moved to the great plains and no longer lived in the mountains or worried about mudslides.
And by building houses on the plains, people could be closer to water sources, engage in farming labour and improve their quality of life.
Suirenshi drilled for fire: In the distant ancient times, human beings did not know how to cook food. Whether it was wild vegetables or wild beasts, they ate it raw.
When people ate raw and cold food, it was difficult to digest and they were prone to illness, and many died at a young age.
Once, the forest was struck by lightning, which started a fire that killed many animals.
The hungry people picked up these animals and tried them, only to find that the roasted meat was very tasty and easy to digest!
That's when people realised the benefits of cooking food.
However, at that time, human beings did not have tools such as matches and lighters to make fires to cook food at any time.
People could only wait for the next lightning to strike the mountains. One day, there was another lightning strike, and a tree caught fire from the lightning.
People quickly lit the fire with dry wooden branches to increase the firepower and brought the fire back to their caves and assigned someone to watch over it.
Discovering the benefits of fire, people gathered many branches, lit a fire, and took turns guarding it from going out.
One day, the watcher fell asleep, the branches didn't burn, and the fire quickly went out.
People began to think, "How wonderful it would be if there were an easy way to make a fire!"
One day a capable man went hunting in the forest and saw an owl resting on a large tree, pecking at the worms on the trunk with its pointed beak.
With each peck, a small dark red spark splashed on the trunk.
Inspired, he immediately ran home, got a small, pointed stick, and dug it in hard against a piece of dry wood.
Soon sparks appeared on the stick, and he was so pleased that he sped up the drilling of the wood.
As the speed increased, the sparks sputtered more and more, eventually igniting the wood.
This was a very remarkable invention! People learned to make fire, not only to cook food, but also to keep warm, and to fight off ferocious beasts with fire.
Later, people elected this man to be the chief of the tribe and called him Suirenshi.
